(1) Notes from the Colonial District Round Table meeting January 10, 2007

Annual Program Planning (3-page handout). I asked the presenter to post it, but have not seen it electronically yet. He emphasized that the Scouts should do the planning. Attendees should include: PLC, Scoutmaster, all other Scout leaders not part of PLC, Assistant Scoutmasters. He meets Friday 6:00pm to Saturday 9:00am; they have pizza delivered for dinner and have access to a kitchen. When work/planning is completed, they have electronic games, music, videos, etc. Lights out 1:30am. More details, but I'll send the info once it's posted.
Owen Hammett, Troop 1519, is coordinating the 2007 Spring camporee April 20-22. He plans a "Disaster in Gilwellea." It will include simulated earthquake, mine collapse, etc. It will include bridge building and triage/first aid. Written information, including location, will be available at the February Roundtable.
Our Colonial District needs volunteers for District positions; if interested, or to send nominations, contact Woody Davis (mailto:woody.davis@dhs.gov) or Linda Hill (mailto:lhill@diabetes.org) or talk with any current District staff at the Roundtable the second Wednesday each month (except July).
Order of the Arrow

Troop 680 is scheduled for 2007 Order of the Arrow Elections on Tuesday February 13.
We can nominate as many scouts as eligible and must nominate at least one adult for every 50 scouts.

Merit Badge Day

At Camp Snyder in Haymarket on February 3, 2006
The following merit badges will be offered: Aviation; Coin Collection; Collections; Composite Materials; Electricity; Electronics; Emergency Preparedness; Fire Safety; First Aid; Geology; Indian Lore; Space Exploration; Stamp Collecting; and Weather. The cost is $10 per person. Boy Scout Troops can reserve a campsite and come for the weekend.

(2) Troop 680 Adult Leader Training:

All registered Scouters are encouraged to complete Adult Leader training, to earn the Leader's Training Award and to earn Wood Badge beads.

The "Eagle Procedures Guide" is for the adult leaders who are working with Life Scouts working to earn their Eagle rank. Unit leaders should share the contents of this guide with each Eagle candidate so that he fully understands the procedures which must be followed. The purpose of this guide is to address commonly asked questions and issues encountered in completing the "12 Steps From Life to Eagle Rank." It is not intended to answer all questions. If a unit leader or an Eagle candidate is unsure of a particular step or requirement, do not hesitate to call your District Advancement Chairman. The guide describes the 12 steps from Life to Eagle. The "Eagle Procedures Guide" has been updated and can be downloaded [as described above]. Please note that this is a large file (1.03 MB) that may take a few minutes to download.
