(1) Notes from the Colonial District Round Table meeting August 9, 2006

Join Scouting Night is September 19, 2006 for Fairfax County

Join Scouting for St. Louis School and T680 is, I presume, Folder Sunday, August 27

Fall Ordeal Campout for Order of the Arrow (OA) is September 29 to October 1, location to be determined
Colonial District Fall Camporee is October 20-22 at Camp Highroad in Middleburg, VA; the theme is Renaissance Fair. Each troop will be given materials to build one trebuchet (catapult) and there will presumably be a contest to see which troop can hurl a pumpkin the farthest. Details about the camporee will be distributed online and via paper by the September 13 Roundtable.
Scouting for Food is November 4 (Bag Distribution by Pack 680) and November 11 (Bag/Food pick up by Troop 680)
Much discussion about popcorn sales
There may be a Council (NCAC) sponsored Merit Badge Jamboree. Colonial District would like to continue theirs, probably February 17, 2007:

This Colonial District MB Jamboree needs a leader/coordinator/director/committee-chair (or it won't happen). If interested, let me (John Millikin) know.

Discussion opened about whether Eagle-required merit badges would/could be offered

(2) Troop 680 Adult Leader Training:

All registered Scouters are encouraged to complete Adult Leader training, to earn the Leader's Training Award and to earn Wood Badge beads.

Wood Badge Training Course -- "the top adult leader training program in the Scouting program. It is a program of leadership and Scoutcraft skills training, which when completed, provides exposure ot all the skills necessary to run an outstanding Scout program."

The "Eagle Procedures Guide" is for the adult leaders who are working with Life Scouts working to earn their Eagle rank. Unit leaders should share the contents of this guide with each Eagle candidate so that he fully understands the procedures which must be followed. The purpose of this guide is to address commonly asked questions and issues encountered in completing the "12 Steps From Life to Eagle Rank." It is not intended to answer all questions. If a unit leader or an Eagle candidate is unsure of a particular step or requirement, do not hesitate to call your District Advancement Chairman. The guide describes the 12 steps from Life to Eagle. The "Eagle Procedures Guide" has been updated and can be downloaded [as described above]. Please note that this is a large file (1.03 MB) that may take a few minutes to download.
