Hi -- here are
my notes from the Colonial District Round Table meeting November 9, 2005:
-
Effective Boards of Review presentation/discussion:
-
Good presentation by two Scouters
-
They suggest one Board of Review per
month on the same meeting night (e.g., 1st or 2nd or 3rd) each month.
-
See the current Colonial District
Crier (November 2005--reference below) for a comprehensive article
about Boards of Review, sample questions by rank, plus an excellent discussion
of purpose, composition and mechanics of Boards of Review.
-
Two web sites, one of which is the source
of the article:

-

-
There was a short presentation on the
Double H high adventure opportunity; I sent previous email about this.
Web sites include:
-
Spring 2006 Camporee, April 21-23:
New Market, 118 miles. Excellent program including re-enactors; very
welcoming to camporee staff and program; fees will include museum entrance;
provision for Saturday 10:00 a.m. arrival; service project opportunity.
Other (closer) sites were either not available, or non-committal to date.
George Washington District Camporee was in New Market about 1996; was chilly,
but excellent.
-
Fall 2006 Camporee topic: Trebuchet
Wars (a trebuchet is a catapult). Stay tuned for more exciting info! Bill
Darrow is leading the planning.
-
Remember the Merit Badge Jamboree is
February 18, 2006. Rita Trimarchi has the Troop 680 packet of information
and materials.
-
December round table will include a
display of trail foods and an Order of the Arrow update.

Wilderness First Aid is a requirement
for those Scouters who lead a high adventure outing. Contact Dick Harmon
at mailto:wa4usb@arrl.net to indicate your interest in this course.
-
The Eagle Committee Chair is Mr. Donald
Bobby, mailto:Donald.Bobby@hqda.army.mil, phone 703-681-1033. See
details at the district Eagle Scout Page at http://www.boyscouts-ncac.org/pages/2014_eagle_scout_page.cfm.
-
I turned in the Troop 680 registration
list for Scouts and Scouters to District Commissioner Tom Libby. He is
matching our Scout list against one from NCAC to be sure they have all
our names.
-
