Hi -- here are
my notes from the Colonial District Round Table meeting August 10, 2005:
-
The main topic at the Boy Scout session
was a discussion of summer activities.
-
Summer Camps:
-
Powhatan provides SCUBA certification;
Atari Knoll is for high adventure.
-
Northern Tier includes a lot of canoeing
to include several portages.
-
At Goshen: Lenhok'sin is popular
for hiking; it is for Venture age Scouts; Camp Bowman is for patrol cooking;
Mariott has heater stack cooking and has access to boating activities;
Olmsted, the dining hall camp, did not get high marks based on a few of
the comments.
-
Other camps mentioned included Rock
Enon, Camp Shenandoah, Sea Base--Island Adventure.
-
Many enjoyed the National Jamboree in
spite of the high temperatures approaching 100 degrees.
-
Again, the new Eagle Committee Chair
is Don Bobby, mailto:Donald.Bobby@hqda.army.mil, phone 703-681-1033.
-

elected to Order of the Arrow who still need to complete the campout/service
part, will be October 21-23, 2005 at the Coast Guard Station on Telegraph
Road. Contact Sue Crane for more information at mailto:acc77@cox.net, home
