Troop 680 was well represented at the October 13 Roundtable:
John Higbee; John Millikin; Rita Trimarchi; Tom Schulte; and Scott Hammell
who runs the general opening session as well as the specific Boy Scout
sessioin. He is, however, looking for a replacement; this year will
be his last in this Roundtable job so he needs someone to take his place
for next year. October 13 Roundtable topics and items of interest:
-
For the camporee this weekend:
-
I turned in the Unit Pre-Registration form for Troop 680 to Sue Crane.
-
I have an updated map of camporee location at Ft. Washington--we are in
the same location as last year, i.e., "Picnic Area B." Drive in from
210 on Fort Washington Road, pass the entrance station, turn left, then
right to Picnic Area B which is on the left.
-
Registration is in the Colonial District tent of the parking lot at Picnic
Area B.
-
Training at the camporee:
-
National BSA High Adventure Orientation, 10-11:30am, Picnic Area B.
Philmont, Sea Base, etc., including how to sign up, etc.
-
New Leader Essential Training, 2:00-3:30pm, Picnic Area B.
-
Bring tools to cut small trees/branches and clear more of hill like last
year, i.e., rakes, loppers, etc.
-
Bring gloves and work clothes for the camporee service project (need this
for camping merit badge)
-
Dress appropriately, i.e., rain gear, warm clothes, 4+ pair socks, 2 pair
shoes, layered clothing, long underwear, sweat suit if needed for warm
sleeping in warm sleeping bag in cold tent.
-
Olympic competition events will occur throughout Saturday including mountain
bike relay, and a night time frisbee golf competition
-
December Roundtable is last opportunity to sign up for the National Jamboree.
-
Troop and individual records:
-
Our Colonial District wants to update their records, so is collecting troop
roster; Wade asked me to send it electronically today to Tom Libby (mailto:thomas.libby@ngc.com)
and I did so.
-
Colonial District also wants info about Scouter (Adult Leader) training/awards
records including course title and completion date. If you have that
info, it should go into our troop database via Chris McCormack. He will
distribute it, including a copy to Dick Bowman, our Unit Commissioner,
who will in turn, send updated training/awards info to Tom Libby. If you
have info, you could send it directly to Tom Libby, but please include
a copy to Chris McCormack so he can post the same info to our Troopmaster
database. Can turn in this info also at November Roundtable November 10.
-
There will be info/packets for the February merit badge jamboree available
for pickup at the November 10 Roundtable. Someone (Rita?) please
get that info for Troop 680. Note that all merit badge selections are due
at the December 8 Roundtable -- late registrations and/or changes will
not be accepted this year!
-
I will not be at the November 10 Roundtable; instead I will attend the
Eagle Dinner with my son, Peter, that same night. Anyone else
from Troop 680 attending the Eagle dinner?
-
Rita--can you get the November Roundtable info including T680 folder info
and Merit Badge Jamboree info? Or John Higbee or Tom Schulte?
Thanks.
